WHAT IS SOWETO RUGBY SCHOOLS ACADEMY?
The Soweto Rugby Schools Academy (SRSA) was founded in 2016 to uplifting rugby playing standards for underprivileged children in the Schools of Soweto.
The SRSA aims to execute this by offering rugby coaching, academic & emotional support to its players. and more so dedicated to nurturing young rugby talent in Soweto. It is the SRSA Academy’s firm belief that sport can unite a community, and through this unity, produce tomorrow’s sporting stars that will see to the continued upliftment of their communities in the future, in the same mannerism that saw to their success.
What We Do At SRSA
Community Outreach
Our Community Outreach and awareness services promote the wellbeing of community members which includes the youth and their families through creating awareness on the dangers and repercussions of anti-social behavior whilst using the same platform to instill moral values and a positive life attitude.
The Outreach programs seek to identify and reach out to people who are affected by the social vices and those facing socio-economic challenges, through the provision of immediate temporal relief and planned permanent solutions.
Youth Development Project
Soweto Rugby Schools Academy {SRSA} youth development project aims to equip unemployed and unskilled youth with employable skills and provide the basic life skills, information, and assistance that enables employment.
Welfare
Feeding our players during all practice sessions, training camps, and tournament games as well as during exceptional circumstances in dire need.
Education Support
Providing support through bursaries, internships, and work-integrated learning programs on an individual level.
Parents and Community
Community outreach programs including parent support programs to involve both community members and parents.
Volunteer
Volunteers to assist at all levels of the academy’s activity ranging from player management, administration, and coordination.
Life and Social Skills
Life skills programs, social skills classes, study skills classes extra classes for mathematics, physical science & English.
Rugby Specific
Rugby-specific development programs that cover rugby skills development for our boys and girl, high-performance programs, and opportunity games across the country and overseas.
